microfilm reader, one hundred and one stoppages (2005)
   
  A single column from the newspaper The South London Press in 1887 is filmed as it is spooled through a Microfilm reader on fast forward and randomly stopped on a short segment of text every few seconds. At each stoppage a short section of the text is read out by the vocalist Sara Williams.

  microfilm reader was produced during a 6 month residency at The Lambeth Archives. It was first exhibited at a solo exhibition at the 198 gallery in Brixton, South London and then as part of a presentation at the Hayward Gallery.
