coloured plates (2006)

The title was borrowed from Rimbaud's collection of verse Illuminations, (coloured plates), with reference to his poem Les Voyelles in which each vowel is assigned a colour. The 5 copper etching plates used to make commentary on the decision become a work in themselves. Each of the 5 plates was assigned a different colour in order to print the 120 possible combinations of the 5 coloured staves used in sheet music. Each of the 5 copper plates represents a single colour and has the ink used in the printing process permantly embeded within the etched lines.
